SAO-RAO ("S&Rs")
For any given reading assignment, you are required to produce two critical/argumentative paragraphs:
(1) SAO: identify one claim/passage you support (S), briefly provide a deductive or inductive argument (A) for the chosen claim, and then raise at least one objection (O) to the original claim; and
(2) RAO: identify one claim/passage you reject (R) and provide a brief argument (A) for rejecting the claim along with at least one objection to your rejection of the claim (O).
SAO-RAOs (or "S&Rs" for short) will serve as the starting point for both class discussions and subsequent CRITO-based argumentative essays. Students should arrive to class prepared to share S&Rs. I will collect hard copies of all S&R's during the final class of each week.
Grading: S&Rs are graded pass-fail (either completed = 100% or not completed = 0%). The final S& R average represents 50% of each student's final grade, with several CRITO-based argumentative essays counting for the remaining 50%.
